Craft/Sewing Room Makeover
Case
A homeowner wanted to be able to function in her craft/sewing room. The room needed to be clear enough that the homeowner could work on her projects and have room to spread out. Her craft supplies also needed to be easily accessible without being in the middle of the workspace. The homeowner also wanted to be able to be working on her projects while having easy access to the window to watch her child play in the back yard.

The workspace and floor are covered with crafting supplies and storage bins. It is difficult to walk or work in the room. |
The work table is moved to make better use of wall and floor space. There is now pleanty of room to complete projects! |
|
The closet is packet with crafting materials and containers of crafting supplies, but they are hard to access. |
The containers are reconfigured, filled & labeled so that the owner can quickly find what she is looking for. |
Getting Down to Work
- Clearing the space was the first step in this room. We removed everything, except for the heavy furniture, from the room.
- We then repositioned the furniture to make better use of the room lighting and room configuration.
- Sorting was next on the list. Every craft item in the room was categorized, containerized and labeled.
- Zones were created for each type of project to be completed in the room: sewing, crafting, scrapbooking, computer work, etc.
